With its wide-open spaces, quirky characters and historical charms, children and families alike will delight in the magic of the Clare Valley.
There are plenty of things to see and do for the younger visitor. For the adventurous type, there are parks and lookouts to explore, including Red Banks Conservation Park and Spring Gully Conservation Park, where you might be able to catch a Southern Hairy-nosed wombat, Western Grey Kangaroo or Short-beaked echidna. There’s also the Riesling Trail and Rattler Trails for some fresh air and family fun.
Alongside Lake Inchiquin in Clare, children will love the Model Train Rides, featuring electric, diesel and occasionally steam trains, passing through a grid of beautifully constructed tunnels and bridges.
Mintaro Maze is a must-do for the family. Explore the network of the traditional hedge maze, through twists and turns, providing hours of entertainment. For Christmas and Easter, there’s the famous Mintaro Maze Bunny Hunt, and during Gourmet Weekend, take part in the Haggis Hunt.

Picnic at World’s End Reserve
Pack a picnic lunch and let the kids explore the World’s End Reserve, just a 20 minute drive from Burra.
Feed the ducks at Burra Creek
Visit the friendly residents of the pretty Burra Creek. A playground, amenities and free barbecue are also available. Duck feed available from the Burra and Goyder Visitor Information Centre.
The Clare Library features regular school holiday activities and weekly story telling for pre-schoolers. There is also free internet, parenting facilities, coffee and drinks available.

Burra Community Library
The Burra Community Library is a free service which caters for the varying needs of people of all ages. It serves both the school and community as a public library.
Patrons are able to borrow books, CDs, magazines, DVDs, and other items. There is also free access to computers and Internet services for general use.

Saddleworth Library and Community Centre
The Saddleworth Library and Community Centre is also a Council Office. It is part of the Libraries SA One card network and offers free PC, internet and WiFi access, printing and photocopying for the public. It holds a local history collection, tourist and community information.

Riverton School Community Library
The Riverton School Community Library stocks non-fiction and reference, adult, children and adolescent fiction Children's Easy and Children's Picture Books as well as videos and DVDs. There is also free internet access, as well as community information and outreach services available.
