Gaslight Cafe Collectables & Old Books

Gaslight Cafe Collectables & Old Books is a cafe infused with the Cornish influence in the Town of Burra with the selling of food items emulating Cornish food from the 19th Century. Customers have an opportunity to purchase a Tiddy Oggi which relates to the 19th Century Miner's Lunch which the wives of those early miners used to cook for their miner husbands to take down the mine - basically a 2-course combo of a pasty and apple pie served with tomato sauce and cream. For the less adventurous you can just order a normal Gaslight-size pasty.

Additionally, Gaslight Cafe offers their special Artisan Pies: Choose from two Chicken and one Beef choices. Their delicious Scones: Plain or Sticky Date. Their Toasted Bacon & Egg Sandwiches. Their Toasted Sandwiches - enjoyed with a Coffee (hot or iced) or Tea or range of Fruit Juices or Cold Drinks. Nearly all of their items can be purchased to eat at Gaslight Cafe or as takeaway food either hot or cold.

They are open five days a week for Breakfast and Lunch with the kitchen closing at noon. They close on Wednesdays, Thursdays and most Public Holidays.

Burra also highlights the fact that the Township is a Heritage Precinct where the outer facade of buildings retains that aura of 'time past' and the Cornish legacy.
