Overview
Kate is an entirely self-taught artist with a deep appreciation for Australian flora and fauna. She draws inspiration for her art works from Australia's unique plants and animals, combined with her lifelong passion for wildlife.Born in Canberra, Kate is now based in Balaklava SA, creating from a fantastic studio space built by her husband who has always been a supportive and encouraging influence.
Kate has lived and travelled across many Australian States and Territories, shaping her artistic perspective through interaction of diverse landscapes and ecosystems.
Growing up with parents who were both botanists, Kate developed a deep appreciation and connection to the beauty and intricacies of native plants and animals. This combined with her love for animals and art has led her to uniquely capture the personalities and beauty of Australia's wildlife.
Kate specialises in fine ceramic art and detailed acrylic paintings, winning numerous awards and exhibitions all over Australia. This being her first exhibition of her acrylic paintings, Kate looks forward to and continuing to expand and explore different techniques of form and expression to deliver vibrant images filled with vivid colour which capture the unique personality of each individual subject.
